How to Prepare Your Site for Shed Installation

Getting a new shed delivered is an exciting upgrade — whether you’re adding storage, a workspace, or something custom like a cabin or garden retreat. But before your building arrives, a little site prep can make a big difference. Here’s how to get your property ready for a smooth, stress-free installation.

1. Pick the Right Spot
Start by thinking about how you’ll use your new building and how easy it’ll be to access. Make sure your chosen area is level, dry, and free from drainage issues. Avoid placing sheds in low-lying areas that collect rainwater — especially here in Texas where sudden storms can lead to standing water.

Also consider sun exposure and shade, especially if your building includes windows or will be used as a workshop or cabin.

2. Clear the Ground
Your shed needs a clean, open space. That means removing:

Grass or sod
Tree branches or shrubs
Debris or leftover materials
Be sure to allow enough room around the site for our crew to maneuver and install your building safely.

3. Choose a Solid Foundation
We suggest different foundation options depending on your needs:

Gravel Pad – A popular and affordable choice for most sheds. It drains well and provides solid support.
Concrete Blocks – Quick to install and a great option for level ground.
Concrete Slab – Ideal for heavy-duty buildings or larger cabins.

4. Make Room for Delivery
Our team handles delivery and setup, but we do need space to work. Clear any fences, vehicles, or items blocking access to the site. If your gate or driveway is tight, let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.

5. Ask If You Need Permits
Some areas in Texas may require a permit or inspection before installation — especially in city limits or HOA communities. Your local dealer can help you figure out what’s needed in your area.
